This page explains how to delete your TabMates account and the data associated with
it. It applies to the Android app (de.tabmates.androidapp) and to the web app at
app.tabmates.de.
How to delete your account
- Open TabMates — the app, or the web app at app.tabmates.de — and go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account (below Sign out).
- Registered accounts confirm with their current password; guest accounts are deleted without a password.
- Confirm the dialog. Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out on the device.
If you have already uninstalled the app, you do not need to reinstall it: sign in at app.tabmates.de in any browser and delete your account from there.
What data is deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove:
- Account credentials: your email address, username, and password.
- Your push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Device information we hold: platform and app language.
- Groups and expenses you created that are not shared with other members.
What data may be retained, and for how long
- Expenses and balances you shared inside a group are retained or anonymized so the remaining group members keep a consistent record of shared spending.
- Encrypted backups are purged within 90 days.
- Where we are legally required to keep certain records, we retain them for the legally mandated period and delete them afterwards.
Data stored only on your device
Uninstalling the TabMates app removes all locally cached data (groups, expenses, and login tokens) from that device.
